Mauritius is home to a permanent family of over 40 Sperm Whales, meaning the chances of encountering these whales all year round are above 90-95%.
They are amazing giants of the ocean that conquer with their sociability and inquisitiveness. Just imagine that a 20-metre beast shows interest in you, plays with you, looks you in the eye, they talk (literally!). Sperm whales communicate with a loud crackle, which is how they communicate in a pack and search for food. You will hear them underwater.
Between June and November (exact dates are impossible to predict), Humpback whales migrate to the warm waters of Mauritius to breed. Humpbacks will also be available to swim with.
In addition to the whales, we will visit large packs of free-ranging dolphins (beaked whales and afalines) who will spin around and around in front of you, showing you how interesting and beautiful they are. Even those people who have already dived to the whales many times are surprised by the emotions that arise from swimming with free dolphins.
Among the infrequent inhabitants that can be seen: stingrays, whale shark, white-tip grey shark, Bryde's striped shark, Pilot Whales.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE TRIP?
The journey takes four to five hours. One of our boats is equipped with a hydrophone, which helps us determine where the whales might be. We are also in contact with boats working in other areas, and as soon as we receive a whale sighting report from them, we head to the right place.
It is impossible to guarantee an encounter with whales as it is wildlife. However, our percentage of whale sightings is above 90%. We will do our best to find them.
We have everything we need on the boat. But if you have your own snorkelling equipment, of course it is better to bring it with you. Your own is your own.
If you are prone to seasickness, make sure you have some over-the-counter remedies to help you cope with the ocean. Over-the-counter seasickness remedies, such as sea sick tablets, are available at any pharmacy and are recommended for all participants to take before travelling. If someone in the group develops symptoms, it is not a reason to end the tour prematurely. No one has ever been seriously affected by seasickness: once you are back on shore, the symptoms will disappear on their own.
